Terminator Salvation (2009)
What’s the point of putting people in danger if you already know that they will survive? There is only a point if you have good characters and an emotional journey. As this is mainly an action movie I can overlook this but I felt that the action was not as well placed as in Terminator 1 or 2 so the lack of depth was more obvious to me. John Connor and Marcus had great potential but were distracted by their love interest, which weren’t interesting and probably better be left out. All in all not bad but it could have been better.
Veronika Decides to Die (2009)
It should be said I didn’t like the book, I found or rather boring. not the story itself but how it was written. I like the movie better then the book. Sarah Michelle Gellar was good in her role but there were a few changes I was sad they did for the movie:
1. they changed location to America (understandable)
2. they didn’t explore some other characters besides the main couple (one thing they mostly do in adaptions).
I do not hold that against the movie, but one thing I do is that they changes in Veronika were too sudden for me. She was all better after that piano night. I would have wished for a transition in smaller steps. Maybe a few more inside thought from the off.
I think it is a good adaptation but for “die hard fans” of the book it probably isn’t.
